View Information Additional awardees (determined by the same committee) will be awarded the Bullard Dissertation Completion Fellowship. The Graduate School Dissertation Completion Fellowships Approximately one hundred and seventy (170) fellowships are available annually to allow students to devote full time to writing the dissertation with the goal that the dissertation will be completed during the tenure of the fellowship.

April 1 - Process fellowships for summer semester per Office of Financial Aid. March 31 – Assistantship letter due for graduate students being employed as TAs for summer semester.

Recipients cannot hold a service position (RA/TA/GA) simultaneous to this fellowship without prior Graduate School approval. The Graduate School offers fellowships and grants to eligible graduate students, including recruitment awards for incoming students (such as the prestigious Royster Society of Fellows) and dissertation completion, off-campus research, summer research and other awards for current students. The first fellowship was awarded in 2014.

Students do not apply directly for these awards. Fellowship Information It is expected that recipients will have completed all course work for their degree and will register for 3 credit hours of dissertation. Dissertation Completion Fellowships Eligible students in the humanities and social sciences are guaranteed a GSAS dissertation completion fellowship (DCF) between the G4 and G7 years and must apply for the DCF in advance of the dissertation completion year. Stipend: $10,000 for the Spring semester Duration: 1 semester Eligibility: Doctoral candidates in good academic standing College-nominated; Due to the College of Graduate Studies on November 15. The Graduate College offers Dissertation Completion Fellowships to Western Michigan University doctoral students for up to one year (two semesters and two sessions) awarded in open competition, on the basis of superior scholarly achievement and quality of proposed dissertation project, to assist full-time doctoral students with the completion of their dissertations. Instead, departments submit nominations according to the competition schedule shown below. Because the fellowship is designed for full-time work on the dissertation, fellows may not be otherwise employed at Northeastern or elsewhere while holding the fellowship. The Completion Fellowship is a merit-based award to support degree completion of outstanding graduate students enrolled in one credit for their last semester or last year of a doctoral, MFA or other terminal degree immersion (on-campus) program.
